# Pine Needle Removal From Roofs in Greater Houston

**$149**starting price · one-story, walkable pitch · second story +$29

Pine needles do not just sit on a roof. **Thin needles slide beneath the shingles** and trap moisture against the roof deck, where nothing dries out in Houston humidity.

That is why a roof under pines tends to fail from below, and why the damage is usually well along by the time a stain shows on a ceiling. We remove the needles from the roof surface, valleys and penetrations, bag them, and photograph the roof before and after.

- **$150** gift certificate
- Before & after photos
- Roof inspection included
- Repair estimate within 24 hours

[Book removal(713) 766-3464 · 713-ROOFING](tel:+17137663464) [Send photosFree assessment, no climb](#photos) [Read the terms](#terms)

Worst in Tomball, Magnolia, The Woodlands, Spring, Klein, Kingwood and Conroe — anywhere with mature pine canopy — and available across Greater Houston from our Tomball and Spring Branch offices.

Where they collect

## Five places, and one of them is invisible

- **Valleys and gutters** — where the roof channels water, and where needles mat into something water cannot get through
- **Around chimneys and vents** — anything that interrupts the slope collects a pile behind it
- **Near skylights** — closer to a room than an attic when it leaks
- **Flat roof sections** — nothing to carry them off, so they sit and hold water

The one you cannot see

- **Underneath the shingles** — needles work into the gaps between courses and stay there, wet, against the deck

A roof can look clear from the driveway and still be holding moisture under the shingles. Photos from the ground are often enough for us to tell.

The service

## What the $149 Pine Needle Removal Covers

Needles removed by hand and with a blower, bagged, and the roof inspected and photographed while we are up there — because the clearing is often the first time anyone has seen the roof under the needles.

- ![A thick mat of pine needles lying across the shingles of a Houston roof beside a roof vent]()

  ***A typical pine needle mat**Needles knit together on the shingles and stay damp for days after rain.*

- ![Pine needles piled in a roof valley on a home in northwest Houston, seen from the top of a ladder]()

  ***Packed into a valley**The valley carries the most water on the roof, and it is where needles collect first.*

- ![Shingles opened up in a roof valley, showing water-stained and damaged roof decking underneath]()

  ***What they hide**Opened up in a valley: stained, damaged decking under shingles that looked fine from the ground.*

Included in the $149

- **Complete pine needle removal**From the entire roof surface, the valleys and around penetrations — chimneys, vents and skylights.
- **Blower debris removal**Professional-grade blowers clear the dirt, leaves and fine debris left behind. The roof is not washed.
- **Bagging and cleanup**Everything removed is bagged and left neatly at the side of the house. Haul-away is $39 for the first 2 bags and $19 for each additional bag.
- **Before and after photos**Visual proof of the work, yours to keep.
- **Roof inspection**Hidden leaks and water damage, wood rot, damaged or missing shingles, gutter and drainage problems, and mold, moss or algae growth.
- **Repair estimate within 24 hours**If we find something repairable, you get a detailed estimate within 24 hours at no extra cost.
- **$150 gift certificate**Toward future roof repairs or replacement. Terms below.

Not included, quoted separately

- **Gutter cleaning**Different access, different job. The [gutter tune-up](https://www.myroofimprovement.com/gutter-tune-up/) starts at $149, and the two combine well in one visit.
- **Any repair we find**Photographed, estimated within 24 hours, and never done without your approval.
- **Moss, mold or algae treatment**Where growth has taken hold rather than just started.
- **Other roof types**Metal, tile, flat and commercial roofs are quoted individually, free.
- **Tree trimming**The long-term fix, but not roofing work.

**Standard service Included**

Bagged debris left neatly at the side of your house for your disposal — most people put it out with their yard waste.

**Full disposal +$39**

We haul away the debris from the removal: **$39 for the first 2 bags, then $19 per additional bag.** Say so when you book.

### When we will not walk the roof

On a roof that has gone brittle with age, walking it to clear the needles can cause more damage than the clearing prevents. Old shingles crack underfoot.

**Where that is the case we say so and do not charge you.** You get the photographs and an honest conversation about what the roof needs instead.

The problem

## Why Pine Needles Are Worse Than Leaves

In Houston’s wooded neighborhoods, pine needles are not seasonal debris. Trees shed all year, Gulf Coast winds put the needles straight onto the roof, and the humidity does the rest.

- ### They slide under the shingles

  Their slender shape lets them slip beneath the shingles, where they cannot wash out or dry. Moisture sits directly against the roof deck and degrades it from within.

  This is the one that does structural damage, and it is invisible from the ground.
- ### They hold water like a sponge

  A matted layer stays damp for days after rain, and in Houston humidity it may not dry out between storms.

  In our experience, an inch of buildup can hold enough moisture to start rot within about 90 days. That is a field observation, not a laboratory figure.
- ### They grow mold, moss and algae

  Permanently damp organic matter on a warm roof breaks down the shingles and underlayment, leads to wood rot, and can affect the air quality inside the house.
- ### They block the drainage

  Needles clump into dense mats in valleys and flat sections. Water backs up, finds the edge of a shingle, and goes under it — leaks and interior damage follow.
- ### They clog the gutters

  Needles wash off the roof into the gutters and block them completely. The overflow damages fascia, siding, landscaping and, on Houston clay, the foundation.
- ### They are a fire risk when dry

  After a dry spell, an accumulated layer of needles on a roof is fuel. Humidity causes the rot; drought turns the same pile into a hazard.

### Six Warning Signs You Can Check From the Ground

None of these needs a ladder. Count how many you have.

1. **Visible buildup**Layers of needles in valleys, around chimneys, skylights or vents.
2. **Organic growth**Dark streaks, green patches, moss or algae — moisture is trapped underneath.
3. **Interior water stains**Yellow or brown stains on ceilings or walls, especially after heavy rain.
4. **Gutter problems**Overflowing in rain, or needles visibly poking out of the gutters.
5. **Damaged shingles**Lifting, buckling, curling or uneven — needles underneath break the seal.
6. **Frequent gutter cleaning**Needing it more than twice a year points to heavy accumulation on the roof.

**1–2 signs · Mild**Book a removal before it progresses.

**3–4 signs · Moderate**Removal plus a close look at what is underneath.

**5–6 signs · Severe**There is likely damage under the needles already. Call us.

- **Monthly, from the ground**Look for buildup in the gutters and roof valleys.
- **After storms**Check ceilings for stains and the roof for new growth.
- **Two or more signs**Have it looked at by a professional rather than waiting.

**Not sure what you are looking at?** Text photos of the roof edge, the valleys and the area behind the chimney to [(832) 590-3700](sms:+18325903700) or email them to [hello@jccroofing.com](mailto:hello@jccroofing.com), and we will tell you what we see — free, with no visit and nobody on a ladder.

Terms and conditions

## Service Terms and Restrictions

Everything that applies to the $149 pine needle removal, in one place. **Please read it before you book** — a light seasonal layer and years of buildup under mature pines are not the same job, and it is better to know where the starting price stops now than on the day.

1. ### Residential asphalt shingle roofs only

   The $149 service applies to **residential asphalt shingle roofs**. Metal, tile, flat and commercial roofs are quoted individually — call us for a free custom quote.
2. ### Home size

   The price is for **standard single-family homes up to 2,500 sq ft**. Larger homes may require an additional quote, confirmed before we come out.
3. ### Stories and roof pitch

   The $149 price is for a **one-story home with a walkable roof pitch**. A second story is an additional $29. Steep roofs are available for an additional charge, confirmed before we start. **Three-story homes are excluded.** A roof covered in wet needles is worse footing than it looks, and **a roof we judge unsafe to walk will not be walked**.
4. ### Heavy accumulation and brittle roofs

   The starting price assumes a roof that has been reasonably maintained. Years of buildup or established growth take substantially longer and are quoted before we start. On a roof that has gone brittle with age, **we decline rather than risk damaging it, and do not charge you**.
5. ### How the needles are removed

   Pine needles are **removed by hand** from the roof surface, valleys and penetrations, and professional-grade blowers clear the dirt, leaves and fine debris. **The roof is not washed** as part of this service.
6. Add-on ### Debris disposal

   Standard service: the bagged debris is **left neatly at the side of your house** for your disposal. Full disposal, where we haul away the debris from the service, is $39 for the first 2 bags and $19 per additional bag.
7. ### Gutters are a separate service

   Gutter cleaning is not included in the $149. The [gutter tune-up](https://www.myroofimprovement.com/gutter-tune-up/) starts at $149 and can be booked for the same visit.
8. ### Damage found during the service

   If the inspection finds damage, **we photograph and document it and show you**. You receive a detailed repair estimate **within 24 hours at no extra cost**, and nothing is repaired without your approval.
9. ### $150 gift certificate

   Included with the service. **The gift certificate applies toward future roof repairs or replacement only. It cannot be used for additional maintenance services.**
10. ### One offer at a time

    This offer **cannot be combined with other promotions**.
11. ### Pricing

    **$149 is a starting price** for a qualifying home and roof as described above. Anything outside it is priced **before** we start, never after. No deposit, and nothing to pay when you book.
12. ### Service area

    Available throughout Greater Houston and our five-county service area, from our Tomball and Spring Branch offices. Not sure we cover you? Call and ask, or see our [service areas](https://www.myroofimprovement.com/service-areas/).
    - Houston

**Why these conditions exist:** they keep our crews safe on a slippery roof, keep the $149 price honest for the roofs it is designed for, and make sure nobody pays for a clearing on a roof that needs something else. If yours falls outside them, you still get a straight answer and a quote.

Common questions

## Pine Needle Removal Questions

What homeowners across Greater Houston ask us before they book.

<details>

<summary>How do you remove pine needles from a roof?</summary>

By hand first: needles come off the roof surface, out of the valleys and from around chimneys, vents and skylights. Then professional-grade blowers clear the dirt, leaves and fine debris left behind. Everything is bagged, and the roof is photographed before and after.

The roof is not washed. While we are up there we inspect it, because needles hide the damage they cause and the clearing is often the first time anyone has seen the roof underneath.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How much does pine needle removal cost in Houston?</summary>

$149 for a standard single-family home up to 2,500 sq ft with a residential asphalt shingle roof. That covers a one-story home with a walkable pitch; a second story is $29 extra, and steep roofs carry an additional charge. Haul-away is $39 for the first 2 bags and $19 for each additional bag. Larger homes, heavy accumulation and other roof types are quoted before any work begins.

It includes a roof inspection, before and after photos, a repair estimate within 24 hours if we find anything, and a $150 gift certificate toward future roof repairs or replacement.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Why are pine needles so damaging to Houston roofs?</summary>

Because of the humidity. Needles trap moisture against the roof, and thin needles slide beneath the shingles where they cannot dry, holding water against the deck. That leads to mold, moss and algae, wood rot, blocked valleys and gutters, leaks, and in dry spells a fire risk.

In our experience, an inch of buildup can hold enough moisture to start rot within about 90 days.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How often should pine needles be removed from a roof?</summary>

It depends on the trees around you. In heavily wooded areas such as Spring and The Woodlands, every 3 to 6 months or after major storms. With moderate tree cover, every 6 to 12 months. For any Houston home with pines nearby, at least once a year before the rainy season.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can I remove pine needles from my roof myself?</summary>

We recommend against it. Falls from roofs and ladders cause serious injuries, and a wet, needle-covered roof is worse footing than it looks. Improper technique can also damage shingles, flashing and gutters, a blower alone leaves the needles that have worked under the shingles, and you may miss damage a roofer would catch.

What you can do safely is check from the ground and send us photos.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Do you take the pine needles away?</summary>

Standard service leaves the bagged debris neatly at the side of your house for your disposal. If you want it gone, full disposal is $39 for the first 2 bags and $19 for each additional bag. Say so when you book.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What if you find damage during the removal?</summary>

We photograph and document it, show you, and send a detailed repair estimate within 24 hours at no extra cost. There is no pressure and nothing is repaired without your approval. Your $150 gift certificate can be applied toward the repair.

</details>

<details>

<summary>How does the $150 gift certificate work?</summary>

It comes with the service and applies toward future roof repairs or replacement only. It cannot be used for additional maintenance services, and the pine needle offer cannot be combined with other promotions.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What roof types does the $149 service cover?</summary>

Residential asphalt shingle roofs on standard single-family homes up to 2,500 sq ft. Metal, tile, flat and commercial roofs get a free custom quote — call (713) 766-3464.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Do you remove pine needles from two-story homes?</summary>

Yes, for an additional $29. The $149 service is for one-story homes with a walkable roof pitch; a second story adds $29. Steep roofs are available for an additional charge. Three-story homes are excluded.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Can you tell from photos whether I need pine needle removal?</summary>

Usually, yes. Text photos from the ground — the roof edge, the valleys and the area behind the chimney — to (832) 590-3700 or email them to <a href="mailto:hello@jccroofing.com">hello@jccroofing.com</a>. We will tell you what we see, free, with no visit and nobody on a ladder.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Do you clean the gutters at the same time?</summary>

Not as part of the $149, but it is the sensible pairing: needles on the roof end up in the gutters. The <a href="https://www.myroofimprovement.com/gutter-tune-up/">gutter tune-up</a> starts at $149 for up to 100 linear feet and can be booked for the same visit.

</details>

<details>

<summary>What areas do you serve for pine needle removal?</summary>

All of Greater Houston, including Tomball, Magnolia, The Woodlands, Spring, Klein, Kingwood, Conroe, Cypress, Humble, Houston, Katy, Sugar Land and Pearland — with the heaviest pine cover in the north and northwest.

</details>

<details>

<summary>Do you offer ongoing roof maintenance?</summary>

Yes. The <a href="https://www.myroofimprovement.com/roof-tune-up/">roof tune-up</a> starts at $199 and is recommended every three to five years; the <a href="https://www.myroofimprovement.com/gutter-tune-up/">gutter tune-up</a> starts at $149. See all our <a href="https://www.myroofimprovement.com/roof-maintenance-in-houston/">roof maintenance services</a>, including what a neglected roof under pines ended up costing one Houston homeowner.

In our experience, an inch of buildup can hold enough moisture to start rot within about 90 days."
