Hand-Nailed Roof Replacements
There are 4 types of storm-related damages to your asphalt roof:

1. Missing roof shingles

You may notice that some or many roof shingles are missing; this might have been caused by high winds that can blow off asphalt shingles. Addressing this problem can prevent serious damage to your house. Some homeowners choose to replace the entire roof to maintain curb appeal and further protect their homes.

2. Roof Leaks

Flying debris might have collided with your roof, punching holes in it where water can pass through the gaps and leak into your house. Roof leaks can also affect the comfort of your house’s inner temperature.

3. Damaged Roof Gutters

Ask your roof inspector to evaluate the condition of your gutters since these may have separated from your roof during violent storms.

4. Loss of Granules from Hail Damage

Loss of granules is a common consequence of storm damage. Replacing these roof shingles will help maintain the temperature inside your house and furthermore save energy.

TexasHB2102 Section 27.2 Texas requires a person insured under a property insurance policy to pay any deductible applicable to a claim made under the policy. Insurance companies will request reasonable proof of the deductible payment before releasing the final claim check to the policyholder. The new law makes it a Class B misdemeanor (punishable by a jail sentence of up to 180 days plus a $2000 fine) for contractors to pay, waive, absorb, rebate, credit, or otherwise decline to charge or collect the property owner deductible.

Roof Insurance Questions

How does the insurance company pay for new roof replacements?

After the roof is damaged from a natural disaster; such as hail, wind, tornado, or hurricane, a homeowner must work through the insurance claim process in order to get their property back in its best working condition. At, JC&C Roofing Company, we understand that navigating through claim paperwork, and roof repair or roof replacement estimates can be an exhausting, and sometimes confusing task. We’re here to help you have a transparent experience and give you information on what XACTIMATE estimates are and how they are calculated by the insurance company.

How is a roof replacement calculated?

Insurance carriers, adjusters, contractors, and legal professionals use a third-party pricing system, called Xactimate, to determine how much a roof should cost. Since all parties agree to the pricing of Xactimate the difference in calculated roof costs items or steps is included or excluded. The pricing aspect should be equal and allow homeowners to pick the best roofer, not the cheapest roofer. Insurance pricing is set by Xactimate; the only way the quote to be different is when items are added or omitted. Contractors set the scope of work required for the insurance company to approve.
