Roofing Contractor in Katy, TX

Katy takes weather from two directions — hurricanes off the Gulf and hail off the prairie — and most of its roofs sit inside master-planned communities with an architectural review board to satisfy. We have roofed here through Harvey, Imelda and Beryl.

Repairs from $195, replacements from $8,000, and a free inspection with photographs of everything we find — including when the finding is that your roof is fine.

Three counties meet here. Katy spans western Harris, northern Fort Bend and southern Waller — which matters for permits, and for which adjuster office handles your claim. We work all three.

Roofing Services in Katy, With the Prices

Almost no roofer publishes what anything costs. We do. Take these to two other companies — that is what they are for.

Roof repair

from $195

Pipe boots are the most common Katy repair — they fail at 15+ years across Cinco Ranch and the Mason Road corridor. Flashing, valleys, ridge caps. Typical single-issue repair $350–$900.

33 repairs, priced →

Roof replacement

$8,000–$20,000

Most Katy homes finish in one day. GAF Timberline UHDZ with the Golden Pledge comes as standard on approved claims — Class 4, which matters here.

Four packages, priced →

Free inspection

Free

Every slope photographed, attic checked where there is access, no hammer on the roof. Findings are yours whether or not any work follows.

What an honest inspection is →

Emergency repair

2–4 hours

365 days a year, no out-of-hours surcharge. Katy humidity turns an attic leak into mould within days — we tarp first and repair once it is dry.

Emergency response →

Hurricane damage

Free inspection

Beryl in 2024 took ridge caps and lifted eave courses across Katy. Wind damage starts at the ridge and the starter strip — we check both first.

Should you file, and what to check →

Hail damage

Free inspection

Spring storms track across Cinco Ranch, Cross Creek Ranch and Grand Lakes. We check the soft metals first — if gutters and vents are unmarked, the hail was too small to matter.

How to tell if you have hail damage →

Wind & tornado damage

Free inspection

The April 2024 EF-1 and straight-line storms lift shingles without hail. Directional damage on one slope is the signature.

Why wind damage starts at the ridge →

Insurance claims

We document, you file

Photographs, an itemised scope, and we meet your adjuster on the roof. Filing and negotiating is licensed public-adjuster work — a roofer cannot do it.

How Texas claims work →

Financing

0% for 18 months

Wells Fargo Bank N.A. and Service Finance (Truist) — both banks, not brokers. 8.99% over 70 months, 9.99% over 120. Subject to credit approval.

Rates published →

Attic ventilation

$150 per O'Hagin vent

Fitted during a replacement. A Katy attic runs 140°F on a 90°F day without balanced intake and exhaust.

Why it decides roof life →

Gutters

$9.99–$13 per foot

5-inch or 6-inch seamless, 3″×4″ downspouts on every job. Katy's flat prairie drainage makes downspout placement matter more than most places.

Sizing and what it costs →

Commercial roofing

Free assessment

TPO, modified bitumen and metal for the retail centres along I-10 and Mason Road, office parks and warehouses.

Commercial roofing →

Prices are starting points, not quotes. Pitch, access, layers and what is under the shingles all move the number. We inspect free, show you photographs, and put the real figure in writing before anything begins.

Two weather systems, one roof

Why Katy Is Harder on a Roof Than Most of Houston

From the Gulf

Hurricanes and tropical wind

Harvey in 2017, Imelda in 2019, Beryl in July 2024. Katy is far enough inland to avoid the surge and close enough to take the wind. Beryl lifted eave courses and stripped ridge caps across Cinco Ranch and Cross Creek Ranch — the two components that decide whether a roof holds.

Which is why we fit manufacturer starter strip and ridge cap on every roof, six ring-shank nails per shingle, and the four GAF accessories that qualify a roof for the WindProven™ warranty — no maximum wind speed. Why wind damage starts at the ridge →

From the prairie

Hail, and the April 2024 tornado

Spring storms build over the open land west of Katy and track east across the communities. An EF-1 touched down in April 2024. Hail bruises the shingle mat without leaking, which is why Katy claims get filed late — sometimes a year after the storm.

A UL 2218 Class 4 shingle takes a two-inch steel ball without cracking. On an approved claim we install GAF Timberline UHDZ, which is Class 4, as standard. TDI states Class 4 receives the highest premium credit of the four classes, set by each insurer. What Class 4 actually means →

The third factor

Almost Every Katy Roof Has an Architectural Review Board

Cinco Ranch, Cross Creek Ranch, Cane Island, Elyson, Firethorne, Jordan Ranch — the master-planned communities require approval before the roof changes color, material, or in some cases profile. Submit the wrong shingle and the replacement waits a month.

We know which colors each board has approved before, which stone-coated metal profiles pass as shingle, and what documentation the review needs. That is the difference between a two-week job and a six-week one.

What a Katy roof system actually includes

  • GAF StormGuard leak barrier in valleys, at penetrations and eaves — on every roof, including Owens Corning systems
  • Synthetic underlayment, not felt
  • Drip edge on every edge — the component most often missing on older Katy homes
  • Six ring-shank hot-dip galvanised nails per shingle, and manufacturer starter strip
  • Balanced intake and exhaust ventilation — O'Hagin intake and 11.5″ ridge vent, metal only
  • 3″×4″ downspouts on every job, because Katy's flat drainage needs the capacity

GAF Master Elite — roughly the top 2% of U.S. roofers — and Owens Corning Preferred. Both matter for the same reason: the warranty is only valid if the installation is, and a certified contractor is who the manufacturer will stand behind. Our certifications →

After a storm, or just after fifteen years

Signs a Katy Roof Needs Attention

  • Granules in the gutters after rain, or bald patches from the ground
  • Half-dollar-sized hail or larger in the last two years — bruising takes time to show
  • Ceiling stains on the upper floor after heavy rain
  • Curling, cracking or lifted shingles, especially on the windward slope
  • Daylight through the attic decking
  • Flashing gaps at chimneys, skylights and pipe boots
  • Fifteen years or older — Houston heat gives asphalt 15 to 25, not the 30 on the packet
  • Rising electricity bills, which is usually the attic, not the roof

Two or more means an inspection. Free, photographed, and we tell you when the answer is that it is fine. The eight signs, in detail →

Since Beryl, the most-asked question in Katy

What We Do on an Insurance Claim — and What We Cannot

We do

  • Inspect and photograph every slope
  • Write an itemised scope in the format your carrier uses
  • Meet your adjuster on the roof, so you are both looking at the same evidence
  • Explain repair versus replacement in plain terms
  • Match materials to the original installation

We do not

  • File your claim
  • Negotiate with your carrier
  • Advise on coverage

Those are licensed public-adjuster work. A Texas roofer offering them is offering something they are not licensed for.

Three deductibles, two depreciation methods, and a filing deadline that is separate from the depreciation deadline. How Texas claims actually work →

Beyond asphalt

Specialty Roofing in Katy

Decra stone-coated metal

Hail-tough, and it does not lift in hurricane wind when installed correctly. Several Katy boards now approve shingle-profile metal.

F-Wave synthetic

Class 4, built for Texas heat. For homeowners done with replacing asphalt every fifteen years.

Brava tile

The slate or Spanish-tile look for Cinco Ranch Northwest, Cardiff Ranch and Avalon at Spring Green — without the weight or the fragility.

Low-slope sections

Porches, additions and modern details. Shingles on a low slope will leak. TPO and modified bitumen where the pitch calls for it.

Most Katy homes are best served by architectural asphalt, and we will say so rather than sell you something dearer.

The warranty question nobody asks until the claim

No Maximum Wind Speed — But Only If the Roof Is Built for It

GAF's WindProven™ Limited Wind Warranty carries no maximum wind speed limitation for fifteen years. On this coast that is the only wind warranty worth having. It costs nothing extra and needs no registration — but it does not come automatically, and most roofs never qualify for it.

What the roof must have

  • Timberline shingles with LayerLock®Not any GAF shingle — only the LayerLock-labelled ones
  • GAF roof deck protectionGAF-branded, not a generic synthetic underlayment
  • GAF starter stripAt the eaves and the rakes. Not cut shingles
  • GAF ridge cap shinglesThe high-profile product, not cut 3-tab
  • GAF leak barrier or attic ventilationOne or the other, both GAF
  • Six nails per shingleTo the specified pattern — part of Special Installation

All six. Miss one and the roof does not qualify.

What happens without it

130 mphwith Special Installation

110 mphwithout it

Same fifteen years. Same shingle on the surface. A different warranty underneath — and on the Gulf Coast, 130 mph is a number a hurricane can pass.

A contractor can promise you the unlimited warranty and still not install the system that earns it. Nothing stops them saying it. The homeowner finds out at the claim, which is the worst possible moment to find out.

One question that settles it

“Which four GAF accessories are you installing?”

Ask whoever is quoting you. If they cannot name them, the warranty they are describing is not the warranty you will get. Ask for it in writing on the estimate, as line items — not as a sentence about coverage.

We build every roof to the qualifying specification and put each component on the estimate by name. On a coastal job it is the same six-nail ring-shank pattern the windstorm inspector checks anyway.

The WindProven™ remedy is the reasonable cost of replacing blown-off or damaged shingles and hand-sealing any that have not sealed. Wind warranty coverage runs fifteen years. Hail, impact and damage from falling objects are not manufacturer warranty items — those are an insurance claim. See the GAF Roofing System Limited Warranty for complete coverage and restrictions.

Excellent service. We are very happy with their work and customer service. They explained the entire roof replacement process to us. On the day they said they would do the work, they were on time and finished it. The next day, Christian came and checked that everything had been done correctly. We highly recommend them. They are a serious and responsible company.

Went on Angi's List to find a roofers to fix leaks coming into home. Had several come out but JC&C put a temporary fix on during a rainy spell. They were our third, but we went wirh them immediately. Then on top of that, they provided 3 estimates. Damage now up to improvements that would be needed down the road. Finally had it done in under a day. Don't go anywhere else!

I had a great experience with the JC&C team. Like many homeowners, I got several quotes after discovering a roof leak that needed immediate attention. The first company I met with told me I needed a full roof replacement and quoted me around $20,000. When I met with the team at JC&C, I explained that I had just purchased my first home and wasn't prepared for such a major expense right after my down payment. I even shared what the other company had quoted me (which, in hindsight, probably wasn't the best idea!). Instead of taking advantage of the situation, they gave me an honest assessment and recommended only the repairs that were actually needed. Their quote came in at just a few thousand dollars, and that level of honesty and integrity spoke volumes. The entire process was seamless, the work was completed professionally, and I haven't had a single issue with the leak since. I'm incredibly grateful I found JC&C and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone—especially first-time homeowners who are still learning the ins and outs of homeownership. It's refreshing to work with a company you can truly trust. Thank you, JC&C team!

Christian was very professional and courteous. He walked you through the process of roof repair, the options for materials, the roof survey with a drone and inspection of the attic. They even cleaned the driveway for you. Great people, good communication him and his associates on the phone. He was recommended by my neighbor, and I now understand why. Thank you, JC&C 🙂

Highly professional, my ceiling suddenly caved in due to roof leak. they came out during torrential rains and installed temporary tarps immediately without asking for a pricing or any other conditions. This act of kindness won my heart and I decided to work with them. From start to finish they completed the project as per building codes, using preselected materials and highly trained team of workers. They documented each phase of their work with 2000 + photo album of the project. I thank the friend who referred them and so I to the public at large. They are one of best in Houston area.

Had a new roof and gutters installed in 2021. Excellent service. Have referred two neighbors. Recently, we had hail in May 2026. JC&C Roofing called to do an inspection of the 2021 roof. They found minor damage to a few shingles and he noticed gutter's needed to be blown. His office will be scheduling the work this week. We are pleased and HAPPY. JC&C is a class A company!

Repair an Asphalt Shingle Roof JC&C was great with communication, especially in terms of the estimate, what exactly would be done and when, and with payment. All of the work was done within a single day. They took pains to lay down tarps and plywood to protect the landscape and the windows. They also provided access to a customer portal with photos of the repair and installation of the new roof step by stop. It was a great, quick, and efficient experience.

I initially came across JC&C via a KPRC news story where they assisted a customer with a roof replacement issue. The way they took care of the customer and the great work they did made me take note. Some time after that I ended up using them for several minor roof repairs of my own. They showed up on time for both estimate (price was fair) and repairs. They worked quickly and cleaned up was spotless. I would definitely consider JC&C as my first choice when ready to replace my roof.

I want to share my experience with JC&C roofing. As you know, after the last hurricane Beryl, with all the damage to the roofs, it has been almost impossible to find anybody to come and fix things. I called the people who roofed my house and they said that they could not come and would not know when they would. Walking down my neighborhood on Thursday, I saw a truck of JC&C working on a roof. I came to talk to them and told them that I had a relatively small job in my house (the cap of an exhaust pipe had been blown up during the hurricane). He said that is was dangerous to fix it then because it was raining, but that they would come as soon as possible. Well, that meant two days later and now my roof is fixed! Thank you Mr. Paniagua!

On a visit to my elderly parents who live in Sugarland, I live in Austin, I found that a filled rain gutter had been flowing in the wrong direction and caused the end piece of the roof eave and soffit to rot. Being remote, I had to get onto Yelp and try to find a company that could rebuild the soffit, fix bad flashing, and put in a new gutter. This led me to JC&C and they did a fantastic job. From the moment I called them to see if they could handle this type of job, they were in constant contact through: email, text and direct phone calls. They gave me estimated times for the inspection-bid as well as the service and they showed up on time. In addition, they have online pictures (where I got these that I'm posting) of the inspection, during the construction, and the completed project. These pictures assured me of the quality of their work, from my remote home. And although they don't do gutters, part of their bid included gutter replacement which they subcontracted out and I didn't have to go searching for a gutter company. Very pleased with JC&C.

Install or Replace an Asphalt Shingle Roof After a little bumpy start when the first group of roofers looked at the job and decided the roof pitch was too steep and drove off. That delayed the start by a couple of days but once the next group of 9 roofers started they were awesome. They worked for 2 & 1/2 days over 10 hours a day and along with the companyâ s owner direct involvement the job was extremely well done, right down to the clean-up. I have already recommended JC&C to several of my neighbors and will to anyone else requiring roofing services.

The service is just perfect from everyone in this company. You are never on hold when you call. The ladies that dispatch the calls are courteous and efficient. The appointments are easy to make and always kept. We had our roof entirely re-done by them. They came on time, and completed the roof on time. Maintenance is absolutely the best. We had a minor leakage after a storm and the repair technician came the next day and fixed it right away. He inspected the entire roof to make sure that everything was in order. Very knowledgeable very professional. I recommended them to several people.

Let me tell you all of the reasons that JC&C Roofing is the way to go for the most important investment you will put on your house. 1 - Product Knowledge. Christian, the owner, came out to provide a quote. He took some measurements and then scheduled a time to come back and deliver his proposal. This allowed him time to compile all of the data and figures to ensure that the quote given is the final price without any hidden expenses. They have several products the offer and will provide detailed quotes and a plethora of information about everything they sell. 2 - Production. Once we decided on the product package we wanted, which was the Diamond Package (thank God for financing). Christian had a crew swarm on our house the very next day. The worked so hard and got 99% of the job done on the first day. The next morning they were back out to finish the last minute touches. The owner was onsite for most of the project, checking in that I was happy with the work and always asking if I had any questions or concerns. 3 - Service. I can't rave enough about Christian. So rare is it to find someone that is polite, kind, funny, honest, and just an overall good person. Christian is good people. Plain and simple. I honestly feel like he treated us like he would want to be treated and I have a great amount of respect for his customer service, dedication to his craft, and earning the respect of those around him. I am confident that if I should have any issues in the near future with this new amazing looking roof, that he would be back out in a hot second to take care of me. Great Product. Great Company. Great Owner. Great Team. Great Job!! A++

We decided to go with JC&C Roofing which was the best decision we could have made. While sometimes it took a little longer to hear back from Christian, the workers were on time. Fixed all the issues and gave us a brand new roof that is so gorgeous I believe my neighbors are jealous. Christian also added attic vents and took down old satalite dishes at no charge. The kicker was he also had someone come by and pressure wash the house and drive way with no extra charge. Christian stated any problems just to contact him. Add to it he also dealt with our insurance company so we did not have to. I could not ask for a better individual or company to have work on my home!

I discovered several shingles in my backyard after some recent heavy storms in our area and I was concerned for the integrity of our roof. I scheduled an appointment for a roof inspection through JC&C's website and received two emails confirming the appointment. Abraham Barrera performed the inspection, was prompt, courteous, and thorough. He called 45 minutes before arrival, took a number of photos of our roof so we would have proof of any issues, and also inspected an exhaust pipe for our water heater that we had some concerns about. It turned out that the shingles I found in our yard were actually from the neighbor's roof and our roof was fine. Abraham sent us the photos he took even though no work needed to be done and the INSPECTION WAS FREE. I told him I would let our neighbors know about their roof and Abraham gave us a business card to pass along. I don't know how expensive (or not) their repair costs are, but I would definitely hire them to work on our roof in the future.

Great customer service. They walked me through everything every step of the way. From working with my Insurance Agent, to providing samples and information so me and my wife could get what we liked to being able to do the job within days of when we were ready, they were definitely on top of everything. We had a beautiful Hand Nailed roof installed the same day and we are very happy. Pricing was great, sales rep was very knowledgeable, customer service was there all of the way. I gladly recommend JC & C Roofing for your Roofing and General Contractor needs, they will get it done right for you.

JC&C Roofing was by far the most professional roofing company we had come give us an estimate. Michael took time and walked on roof, took pictures of damage. They were loaded with work and the wait time was 3-4 weeks and the price may have been reflective of their work load. Very professional and I believe they would have done great work if we would have awarded them.

We had a major hail storm come through our area and the damage was so extensive that our roof needed to be replaced completely and the house needed a lot of cosmetic repair. When you have major work like this that needs to be done, it's never fun to hassle with insurance claims etc. and the business responsible for fixing the damage. My experience with Christian and the men who worked on my house was exceptional. I can truly say that the process was so much smoother on their end than I could have possibly anticipated. I was very impressed with the communication and responsiveness of Christian. He stopped by numerous times to check on the progress and to update me. All the men who worked on my house were very professional and courteous. I will absolutely use this company again for any needs concerning the upkeep of my home. I feel that I've found a business that I can trust and I know will do an amazing job. The house looks new.

Common questions

Roofing in Katy, Answered

Do I really need a hail-impact-resistant roof in Katy?

Yes. Katy takes hail off the prairie every spring and hurricane wind off the Gulf most summers. A standard shingle bruises under hail large enough to dent your gutters; a UL 2218 Class 4 shingle takes a two-inch steel ball without cracking. On an approved claim we install GAF Timberline UHDZ, which is Class 4, as standard at no upgrade cost. TDI states Class 4 receives the highest premium credit of the four classes, set by each insurer.

How do I know if my Katy roof needs repair or replacement?

Localized damage — a leak, a few shingles, one flashing — is a repair, from $195. Fifteen years or older, multiple leak points, serious hail or Beryl damage, or soft decking usually means replacement, $8,000 to $20,000. The inspection tells you which, free.

Do you offer free roof inspections in Katy?

Yes. Across all four ZIPs — 77449, 77450, 77493, 77494 — with every slope photographed and no hammer carried onto the roof. Photographs of everything we find are yours whether or not any work follows.

Do you help with hurricane and hail insurance claims in Katy?

We inspect, photograph, write the scope and meet your adjuster on the roof. We do not file, negotiate or advise on coverage — that is licensed public-adjuster work, and a Texas roofer cannot do it. Anyone offering to is offering something they are not licensed for.

Which Katy communities do you serve?

All four ZIPs. North and west Katy — Cane Island, Elyson, Sunterra, Katy Heights, Katyland, Williamsburg and the Morton Road corridor — is covered here. South of I-10, Cinco Ranch, Kelliwood, Seven Meadows, Grand Lakes and Westheimer Lakes have their own page. Same crews, same prices. Cinco Ranch → Katy spans Harris, Fort Bend and Waller counties and we work all three.

Do you understand Katy HOA architectural requirements?

Yes. Cinco Ranch, Cross Creek Ranch, Cane Island, Elyson and the other master-planned communities require approval before the roof changes color or material. We know which colors each board has approved before, which metal profiles pass as shingle, and what the review needs. That is the difference between a two-week job and a six-week one.

How much does a roof replacement cost in Katy?

$8,000 to $20,000 for a typical Katy home, across four packages at $325 to $650 per square. First five sheets of decking free, $90 a sheet after. Nothing upfront — 50% when the crew arrives, 50% on completion.

How fast can you reach a leak in Katy?

2 to 4 hours, 365 days a year, no out-of-hours surcharge. Katy humidity turns an attic leak into mould within days, so we tarp first and repair once the roof is dry.

Book a free roof inspection in Katy

Every slope photographed, attic checked where there is access, no hammer on the roof. Including when the finding is that your roof is fine.
