Roofing Certifications and Warranties You Can Check Yourself
Texas has no state license for roofing contractors. Anyone with a ladder and a truck can call themselves a roofer here, which is why the credentials that do exist matter so much more than they would elsewhere.
Below is every certification and membership JC&C Roofing Company holds, what each one took to earn, what it means for your roof, and a link to the organization that issued it. Do not take our word for any of it.

GAF Master Elite contractor
- What it takes
- Proper licensing where required, insurance, a proven track record and ongoing training. GAF awards it to roughly 2% of roofing contractors in the US.
- What it means for you
- Only Master Elite contractors can register the GAF Golden Pledge, GAF’s strongest warranty, where workmanship coverage is backed by GAF rather than only by us.

Owens Corning Preferred Contractor
- What it takes
- Membership in the Owens Corning Roofing Contractor Network, which requires a licensed and insured business with a record Owens Corning reviews.
- What it means for you
- It lets us register an Owens Corning system warranty on your roof. We install Owens Corning Duration on our Platinum package for its hail performance.

BBB A+, accredited since April 2014
- What it takes
- Accreditation means meeting the BBB’s standards and committing to resolve complaints. The rating is set by the BBB, not by us.
- What it means for you
- Zero complaints filed since 2013. If something ever goes wrong, there is an independent place to take it.

Roofing Contractors Association of Texas
- What it is
- The state trade association for roofers. Because Texas has no state roofing license, RCAT is the body that sets industry standards and runs a voluntary licensing program.
- What it means for you
- A member is accountable to a statewide trade body, not just to its own advertising.

Greater Tomball Area Chamber of Commerce
- What it is
- Tomball is home to our main office, opened in 2026; we have served the area since 2013. A chamber membership is not a certification, and we do not present it as one.
- What it means for you
- We are a local business that has to keep showing up in front of the same neighbors, not a storm crew passing through.

- What it is
- The other half of where we work, served from the same Tomball office along with Klein, Spring, Magnolia and Cypress.

- The people who can tell you about us live here. Ask them.
Not a certification — our own standard
The Fortis integrated roof system
Our own specification: 21+ components installed as one system, chosen to work together in Gulf Coast heat and humidity. No outside body certifies it, so we photograph every layer as it goes on and give you copies.
What we no longer list. Older versions of this page showed logos for manufacturers and programs we are no longer active with, and for software tools we use. A certification page should only show what is current and checkable today, so they are gone.

The certifications above are what make these warranties possible. A roofer without them cannot register a manufacturer’s enhanced warranty on your roof at all, whatever shingle they install.

Premium, and standard on approved claims
GAF Golden Pledge + 10-year JC&C workmanship
GAF’s strongest homeowner warranty, which only Master Elite contractors can register. Workmanship coverage backed by GAF, non-prorated for 25 to 30 years depending on the shingle. On an approved insurance claim we register it with Timberline UHDZ as standard.

$250 satisfaction guarantee
Whichever package you choose. If we fall short on the work or the communication in the first five years, we pay you $250 for the trouble.
Repairs
Repairs carry a 24-month labor warranty. If the same leak comes back in that time, we come back and fix it.
A clock on it
A covered leak gets someone on your roof within 24 hours. A warranty is only as good as how fast it is honored.
Transferable
GAF Pledge warranties can be transferred once to a buyer if you sell, so the coverage carries value to the next owner in writing.
Three kinds of roofing warranty, and the question to ask
Covers defects in the shingles. A “lifetime” shingle warranty is not a lifetime workmanship warranty, and many roofers let customers assume it is.
Covers how the roof was installed: nailing, flashing, valleys, ventilation. Most roof failures are installation problems, which is why this one matters most.
A manufacturer warranty that also covers workmanship, like the GAF Pledge warranties. It only exists if the contractor registers it. Ask for the registration certificate after the job.

How to Check a Roofing Contractor in Texas
With no state license to look up, these five checks take about ten minutes and filter out most of the problems before they reach your roof.
- Look the roofer up on the manufacturer’s own website. GAF and Owens Corning both run contractor locators. A logo on a truck or a website proves nothing; a listing on the manufacturer’s site does.
- Ask for a certificate of insurance, sent by the insurance agent. General liability and workers’ coverage protect you if someone is hurt or your house is damaged. A photo of a policy is not the same as a certificate from the agent.
- Read the BBB profile, not just the letter grade. How complaints were answered tells you more than whether there were any.
- Get the workmanship warranty in the contract. In writing, with a length and what it covers. A warranty that only appears in the sales pitch does not exist.
- Be wary of anyone who offers to handle your insurance claim for you. Texas law does not allow a roofing contractor to act as a public adjuster on a property it works on. A roofer can document the damage and meet your adjuster; the claim itself is between you and your insurer.

Certifications and Warranties, Answered
Does Texas require a license to be a roofer?
No. Texas has no state license for roofing contractors, so anyone can call themselves a roofer. That is why manufacturer certifications, insurance and membership in the Roofing Contractors Association of Texas are the checks that matter here. Some cities require a registration or permit for the job itself, which is separate from a license.
What is a GAF Master Elite contractor?
The top certification GAF awards, held by roughly 2% of roofing contractors in the US. It requires licensing where required, insurance, a proven track record and ongoing training. It matters to you because only Master Elite contractors can register the GAF Golden Pledge warranty. You can confirm ours on GAF’s website.
Is a lifetime shingle warranty the same as a lifetime roof warranty?
No. A lifetime shingle warranty covers manufacturing defects in the shingles. It does not cover how the roof was installed, and most roof failures are installation problems. Workmanship is covered by the contractor’s warranty, or by an enhanced manufacturer warranty such as the GAF Pledge warranties if the contractor is certified to register one.
How do I know my roof warranty was actually registered?
Ask for the registration certificate after the job. A GAF Pledge warranty only exists once the contractor registers it with GAF. We send it to you once registration is complete. If a roofer cannot produce one, the enhanced warranty you were sold may not exist.
Which warranty do I get on an insurance claim roof?
On an approved insurance claim we register the GAF Golden Pledge with Timberline UHDZ as standard, because the settlement covers the full system. Cash customers choose a package; see the four packages for what each one carries.
Do your certifications cover roof repairs too?
The certifications are about the company and our crews, so they apply to every job. Manufacturer system warranties apply to full replacements. Repairs carry our own 24-month labor warranty: if the same leak returns in that time, we come back and fix it.
