How much do gutters cost in Houston?

By Christian Hernandez · · Updated · 5 min read

Most Houston homes pay about $1,700 to $4,000 for a complete set of new seamless gutters, before screens. A single-story house usually lands between $1,700 and $2,600, and a two-story between $3,700 and $4,000. The rest of this guide shows exactly where those numbers come from, with a calculator you can run on your own house.

What a gutter system costs, piece by piece

A gutter system is more than the gutter. You pay for the length of the runs, the corners where they turn, and the downspouts that carry the water down. These are our published rates for seamless gutter installation in Greater Houston:

JC&C published gutter prices
5-inch seamless aluminum gutter$9.99 a foot
6-inch seamless aluminum gutter$13 a foot
Corner (billed as 2 feet of gutter)$19.98 / $26
Downspout on a one-story wall$130 each
Downspout on a two-story wall$250 each
Standard mesh screen$7.99 a foot
Premium micromesh screen$15 a foot
3×4-inch downspouts instead of 2×3Upgrade included
Removing and hauling the old guttersIncluded

The one thing that can add to the price is rotten fascia behind the old gutters. New gutters need solid wood to hang on, so if the fascia has gone soft, we show you before we hang anything and quote the repair separately. Our fascia, soffit and siding crew handles it the same day.

This is arithmetic, not a quote. The measured footage, any fascia repair and where the downspouts can drain all move the figure. We measure free and put the real number in writing before anything starts. Monthly figure uses the Wells Fargo 8.99% APR, 70-month payment factor (1.85%) and is an illustration, not an offer of credit.

5-inch or 6-inch gutters: is the bigger size worth it?

Gutter size should match the roof area that drains into it, not the size of the house. In Houston, where a month of rain can fall in an afternoon, we usually recommend 6-inch.

  • 5-inch · $9.99 a foot

    Fine for smaller roofs

Drains about 1,400 square feet of roof at standard rainfall. Right for many single-story homes with short runs.

  • 6-inch · $13 a foot

    Built for Gulf Coast storms

Drains about 2,000 square feet, around 44% more, for about $450 more on a 150-foot house. It is the size that stops overflow behind the gutter and into the fascia.

Every gutter we install comes with 3×4-inch downspouts at no extra cost. They carry twice the water of the standard 2×3 size and are far harder for a pine cone to block.

What gutter guards add to the cost

ScreenPriceOn 150 feetBest for
Standard mesh$7.99 a footabout $1,200Oak and general leaf litter
Premium micromesh$15 a foot$2,250Pine needles and shingle grit
LeafGuard (for comparison)about $35 a footabout $5,250Sold only by its own dealers

No guard makes gutters maintenance-free. Under heavy pine canopy, a screen turns a quarterly cleaning into a yearly one. Sometimes scheduled pine needle removal from $149 costs less than screens, and we will tell you which makes sense for your trees.

Ways to pay less for gutters

  • Check whether you need new gutters at all. If yours are only blocked or dripping at one joint, a gutter tune-up from $149 may be all it takes. We tell you which before quoting either.
  • Do them with the roof. Replacing gutters during a roof replacement saves a second setup, and both can go on one financing plan.
  • Use the AARP discount. AARP members get $100 off gutter work. See every offer on our discounts page.
  • Spread the cost. With approved credit, gutters can be financed at 8.99% APR for 70 months through Wells Fargo. An $8,000 project is about $148 a month. Our roof payment guide explains every plan.

Gutter cost questions

How much do gutters cost in Houston?

Most Houston homes pay about $1,700 to $4,000 for new seamless aluminum gutters, before screens. JC&C charges $9.99 a foot for 5-inch and $13 a foot for 6-inch gutters, $130 for each one-story downspout, $250 for each two-story downspout, and 2 feet of gutter for each corner. Removing the old gutters is included.

How much does a gutter system cost for a two-story house?

A two-story Houston home with about 190 feet of 6-inch gutter, 6 corners and 5 downspouts comes to about $3,800 at our published rates. Downspouts on a two-story wall cost $250 each because they are longer and need more brackets.

How much do gutter guards cost?

Standard mesh screens are $7.99 a foot and premium micromesh is $15 a foot. On 150 feet, that adds about $1,200 or $2,250. For comparison, LeafGuard runs about $35 a foot.

Is it cheaper to replace gutters with a new roof?

Usually, yes. Doing both in one project avoids a second setup, and the roof and gutters can be paid for on the same financing plan with approved credit.

Do you offer financing or discounts on gutters?

Yes. With approved credit, gutters can be financed at 8.99% APR for 70 months through Wells Fargo, about $1.85 a month for every $100 financed. AARP members get $100 off gutter work. A gutter tune-up from $149 may also be enough if your gutters are only blocked.
